Ovi helps Caps get away with the win

Last night the Washington Capitals went on the road to face the Florida Panthers. This was a must win for the caps, considering the season is almost at its end, and the caps are on a couple points away for receiving a spot in the playoffs for the 11th consecutive year. Only 5:48 into the first period the capitals go on a power play, and Troy Brouwer earns his 15th goal of the season to make it 1-0 Caps. About eight minutes into the game forward brooks Laich scores on a slap shot to make it 2-0. At the closing of the first period Fleischmann manages to squeeze a goal past caps goaltender Holtby to make it 2-1 at the end of the first. The second period starts off with a quick goal by Brad Boyes to make it 2-2, Nicklas Backstrom replies with an amazing goal making it 3-2 Caps. Troy Brouwer then earns his second power play goal of the night making it 4-2. At the start of the third period the Panthers realized they needed to change their game plan and two beautiful goals were scored by Shore and Boyes making it a tied game at 4-4. With 4 minutes left in the game and time running down, Washington's Captain Alex Ovechkin steps up with a huge goal to make it 5-4 and help the team win in their time of need.
